Nearly every food has a low-salt alternative and there is a large disparity among brands. For instance, some pasta sauces can have as much as 850mg, others are in the 300mg range, and no-salt-added sauces have less than 50mg.

Other products that are relatively low in sodium, like sour cream, average 15mg in a 2 tablespoon serving. It may not sound like much, but brands can range anywhere from 10mg to 45mg a serving. If your recipe uses 1/2 cup, that’s 40mg to 180mg depending on the brand… and that’s a big difference!
